EXPERIENCE

Throughout my training I volunteered at two different counselling agencies: Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice & the Mindspace Foundation.

During my time at Phyllis Tuckwell I worked with people experiencing and navigating bereavement and the grief that it brought with it, the hospice has always held a very special place in my heart and the experience that I got during my time here was invaluable.

It truly was an honour to be able to sit with and walk alongside those in their grief and being able to support them as they navigated their way through some of life’s most difficult moments.

My experience at the Mindspace Foundation was also very insightful and enabled me to work with a wide variety of people, meaning that I have experience in working with a whole host of presenting issues, working in both the short term and longer term; open ended ways.

Before training to become a counsellor, I spent over 12 years working as a Coach in combat sports and also worked as a Youth Worker and Mentor to young people through a Community Interest Company.

In this work I was able to support young people who were experiencing difficulties both inside and outside of school and it was a really good grounding for me as I worked through my studies.

I still continue to work closely with this CIC and do Youth Work & Mentoring with young people alongside my counselling practice.
